SDF Chaplain Participates in ISDSC Spiritual and Moral Support Service Working Group Conference
The Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) was represented by Force Chaplain Lt. Col. Louis Agathine (Retd.) at the ISDSC Spiritual and Moral Support Service Working Group Conference, held in Windhoek, Republic of Namibia from 12 to 17 July 2026.
Held under the theme “Chaplain’s Divine Calling and the Impact of Social Media” the conference brought together military chaplains from across the region to discuss the evolving role of chaplaincy in supporting armed forces personnel while upholding strong spiritual and moral values in an increasingly digital world.
During the conference, Lt. Col. Agathine reflected on the topic “The Divine Calling and Servanthood” highlighting that chaplaincy is a sacred calling founded on God’s purpose rather than personal qualifications. He emphasised that chaplains are called to serve with humility, compassion, integrity and unwavering commitment, while providing spiritual guidance and moral support to those under their care.
The conference also reaffirmed the importance of honesty, transparency and moral consistency as the foundation of trust between chaplains and the personnel they serve.
