THE MILITARY POLICE

The Military Police Unit of the SPDF dates back to 2008. The unit was formed due to the requirements of a constantly evolving necessity for a professionally trained force. The MP is designed to support the personnel of the SPDF in the maintenance of discipline and ensuring standardisation and professionalism.

The MP is tasked to patrol and check discipline, ensure vehicle speed limit maintenance, secure military equipment, prevent and apprehending absentees, deserters and defaulters, apprehend and store exhibits for judicial cases, liaison with civil police and investigation of crimes. They are also responsible for supervising identification parades and controlling detainees and inmates.

To meet the tasks specified above, MP personnel have to be endowed with qualities of integrity, impartiality, courteousness, decision making,

self discipline and restraint. The hallmarks of these qualities are visible in all persons of the MP and they take pride in their tasking as well as their turnout.
