On 29 June 2026, the Seychelles Defence Forces officially inaugurated the new Seychelles Coast Guard Jetty at Île Perseverance, marking a significant milestone in strengthening Seychelles’ maritime security and operational capability.
Built on the site of the former floating jetty, the new 150-metre purpose-built facility provides modern berthing, maintenance and logistics support for the expanding Coast Guard fleet, significantly enhancing operational readiness.
A commemorative plaque, unveiled by His Excellency Dr Patrick Herminie, President of the Republic of Seychelles and Commander-in-Chief of the Seychelles Defence Forces, together with the Chief of Defence Forces, Major General Michael Rosette, officially marked the occasion. The ceremony also included a blessing by the SDF Chaplain and the ceremonial docking of Seychelles Coast Guard Ship (SCGS) Zoroaster.
Also in attendance were former Commanders of the Seychelles Naval Forces and former officers of the Seychelles Coast Guard, whose presence reflected the rich history and enduring legacy of maritime service in Seychelles.
The Seychelles Defence Forces expresses its sincere appreciation to the Government of Seychelles for fully funding this strategically important project, demonstrating its commitment to strengthening national security. Appreciation is also extended to Vijay Construction for delivering the project in record time, the Seychelles Infrastructure Agency (SIA) for its effective oversight, and consultants Mr Charles Pool and Mr Marc D’Offay for their invaluable technical expertise and guidance throughout the project.
This landmark infrastructure project reflects the Government of Seychelles’ continued investment in safeguarding the nation’s maritime domain and supporting the vital work of the Seychelles Coast Guard.
