Lt. Col. Louis Agathine Celebrates 30 Years of Ordination
Today, the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) proudly celebrates the 30th anniversary of ordination of Lt. Col. Louis Agathine as a Deacon in the Roman Catholic Church.
A special Mass was held on Sunday, 22nd February, at the Holy Spirit Parish Church in Perseverance, attended by close family members, friends, clergy including the Bishop, members of the SDF family, senior officials, representatives of the Catholic community, and other religious leaders and partners.
Lt. Col. Agathine joined the former SPDF, now the SDF, in 1999 as a Chaplain with the rank of Captain. Throughout his distinguished career, he has undertaken numerous trainings and military courses, embracing the core values and discipline of the force.
As the Force Chaplain, his mission has been to nurture and sustain a culture of spirituality within the SDF, a responsibility he holds deeply and carries out with great passion. He provides continuous guidance and pastoral care to service personnel as well as retired members of the force supporting them in their civic, moral and spiritual responsibilities as soldiers.
Over the years, Lt. Col. Agathine has represented and accompanied the SDF on various missions and humanitarian assistance operations. His calling as a man of faith has never limited his commitment to service; on the contrary, he has stood shoulder to shoulder with military personnel, even braving rough seas and participating in overseas exercises in support of the Force.
The SDF extends its heartfelt congratulations to Lt. Col. Agathine on this remarkable milestone and thanked him for three decades of faithful service to both Church and country.
