
Seychelles Defence Forces Participates in TULIPE 2025 Military Exercise in Madagascar.
The TULIPE 2025 military exercise concluded today in Mahajanga, Madagascar, after an intensive week of joint training activities held from the 18-25th April. The multinational exercise brought together countries such as Comores, Mauritius, France and Madagascar, with the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) playing a significant role in this year’s edition.



Personnel from the SDF Special Operations Unit participated in the ground components of the exercise, working alongside their regional counterparts to strengthen tactical coordination and enhance interoperability in counter-terrorism and maritime security operations.
The Seychelles Defence Forces Auxiliary vessel Saya de Malha also took part, with its crew engaging in maritime drills such as fire fighting, boarding, OOW maneuver, which is all designed to improve naval collaboration and rapid response capabilities. Supporting aerial surveillance and reconnaissance missions during the exercise was the Seychelles Air Force, which deployed its Dornier aircraft to Madagascar.





TULIPE 2025 focused on a range of joint operations, including amphibious landings, aerial reconnaissance, and simulated combat scenarios aimed at boosting regional readiness and defense cooperation among Indian Ocean states.
Officials from all participating nations including Major General Michael Rosette the Chief of Defence Forces who were present, praised the exercise for reinforcing military partnerships and ensuring collective preparedness to face emerging security threats in the region.
