The Commander in Chief, President Wavel Ramkalawan, met with four Military officers who had been deployed overseas for official military duties today at the State House. During the ceremony the President has expressed his gratitude for their notable service and contributions abroad as well as to the Seychelles Defence Forces.
Major Jude Raoul left the republic in November 2022 to complete two years of distinguished service as the Chief of Administration and Finance at the Eastern Africa Standby force (EASF) Headquaters in Assis Ababa, Ethopia. During his tenure, the EASF’s administrative and financial operations have seen significant improvements, ensuring the force had the necessary resources to achieve its goals efficiently.
Captain King was posted at Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) headquarters in Bahrain from December 2023 where he served as the as the Seychelles Senior National representative (SNR) to CMF, as well as the regional Coordination Officer (RCO) for East Africa and South East Asia respectively. His post also covered filling in for CMF Chief Engagement in his absence. During his tenure at the Combined Maritime Forces in Bahrain Captain King established and maintain close relations with representatives from all CMF member and partner nations.
Lieutenant Anthony left the Republic in 2022 to complete two years in the post Maritime Planning & Training Officer at the Headquarters of Africa Standby Force, Nairobi, Kenya. During her posting, Lt Anthony anticipated, planned and monitored the execution of Maritime related training within the EASF member states.
Corporal Kenny Sultan from the Special Forces Unit formed part of an international training team deployed to Haiti under the mandate of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime’s (UNODC) Global Maritime Crime Programme. The Basic Navigation & Seamanship training, conducted in Cap Haitien, Haiti, from September 8th to October 25th 2024, was facilitated by the UNODC through the support of the Canadian Government in order to provide aid and training to the Haitian Coast Guard. Cpl Sultan has been a UNODC-certified national Maritime Law Enforcement instructor since 2022 and has participated in the delivery of several local training programmes undertaken by the UNODC in the Seychelles.
Present at the encounter was Brigadier Micheal Rosette, Chief of Staff Colonel Jean Attala and members of the Defence Forces Council.
