SDF promotes commissioned officers
In a ceremony held at State House this morning, 17 officers were promoted to their new ranks by the President of the Republic, Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan, who is also Commander-in-Chief of the
Seychelles Defence Forces.
Major Rodney Zarine was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and Captain Dania
Woodcock was promoted to the rank of Major.
Five Lieutenants were promoted to the rank of Captain: Daniel Magloire, Iven Moise, Michel
Payet, Leroy Paul, and Rasheed Jack.
Ten Second Lieutenants were also promoted to the rank of Lieutenant: Gerry Boniface, Ernest
Alphonse, Lucianne Henriette, Jerome Philoe, Sebastien Radegonde, Stephanie Anderson,
Christopher Hoareau, Yannick Marie, Melina Crispin, and Petra Agricole.
The Commander in Chief also commissioned two new officers in the force: Don Du Preez was
commissioned as an Honorary Major, and Warrant Officer Class II Sandy Ernesta, was
comissioned to the rank of Lieutenant.
President Ramkalawan congratulated the officers and wished them all the best in their work and
to always put Seychelles first and foremost in their duties. He told them to be prepared to carry
out the plans of the force and to devote themselves to meeting the demands in their respective
fields of work.
Congratulating the newly promoted, the Chief of Defence Forces, Brigadier Michael Rosette,
reminded them that promotions come with added responsibilities and duties, and urged officers
to make more effective and professional decisions in order to increase efficiency. Brigadier
Rosette reaffirmed his commitment to the Commander-in-Chief and promised that the force
would continue to do everything possible for the country. Among those who attended the
ceremony was the Vice President, Mr. Ahmed Afif, members of the Defence Forces Council and
other senior government officials.
