Fifteen serving and retired service personal from the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces who have completed 40 years of active service in the military have been presented with long-service medal by the Commander-in-Chief, President Danny Faure.
The chief of defence forces, Brigadier Leopold Payet, was the first and only service personnel to be presented with the supreme Distinguished Medal. Brigadier L. Payet has clocked 41 years of active service in the defence forces after joining on June 5, 1977. He is set to retire soon after having recently announced his retirement.
Nine officers were then presented with the Exceptional Distinguished Service Medal including deputy chief of defence forces, Colonel Clifford Roseline who has served for 40 years. Retired Colonel Joe Raguin, retired Lieutenant Colonel Georges Camille and Lieutenant Colonel François Antat were also presented with the Exceptional Distinguished Service Medal
