The official contract signing for the construction of a new jetty for the Seychelles Coast Guard was held yesterday morning at the SCG Base. The new jetty, which will measure 152 metres in length, was necessary to cater for the increase in vessels in the SCG fleet.
The contract has been awarded to Vijay Construction Pty limited after completion of the procurement process undertaken by Seychelles Infrastructure Agency (SIA). The construction is estimated to be completed in 10 months, but the starting date has not been finalised yet.
Charles Pool and Marc D’Offay Associates has also been appointed as consultant for this project and SIA will assist in doing the oversight.
The jetty will be constructed at the same location of the existing floating one which has been in use since the opening of the Seychelles Coast Guard Base in 2011.
