OFFICIAL LAUNCHING OF PHYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT GROUP FOR ACTIVE-DUTY SOLDIERS AND VETERANS.
For the first time, the Seychelles Defence Forces launched itspsychosocial support group for Veterans and active dutysoldiers. An initiative of the Social & Welfare department of the SDF, the group aims to promote empowerment, mental support and respect of veterans and soldiers in service, while ensuring continuous professional development and raise awareness of the mental health which is a crucial matter in society. At the heart of that, it serves to build collaboration and involvement of military personnel with ex- servicemen.

The event took place this morning at the Defence Forces Headquarters, in the presence of the Chief of Defence Forces, Chief of Staff, Unit Commanders, SDF personnel, and veterans in attendance.
The veteran support group will focus on giving encouragement and counselling in the transition of retired personnel from being a soldier to adapt in society as a civilian. The other group will target current enlisted soldiers that are facing any social and mental issues; they will be assisted with basic counselling by the certified peer educators. Peer educators programme involves personnel from different unit of the Seychelles Defence Forces.
