
Exercise Cutlass Express 2026 Successfully Hosted in Seychelles
The Seychelles Defence Forces proudly hosted the 13th Edition of Exercise Cutlass Express (CE26) from 02 to 12 February 2026. This multinational maritime exercise brought together maritime security professionals from across the region and partner nations beyond, reinforcing our shared commitment to safeguarding the maritime domain.
As a small island nation with a vast Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), Seychelles remains steadfast in its responsibility to protect its waters and maritime resources. Throughout the two-week exercise, participating forces engaged in intensive training aimed at strengthening operational readiness, enhancing coordination and improving collective maritime security capabilities.
Strengthening Maritime Security and Cooperation 🤝
During CE26, Seychelles significantly enhanced its Maritime Domain Awareness capabilities and reinforced critical information-sharing mechanisms among regional partners. Coordinated interdiction and boarding operations were conducted to a high operational standard, demonstrating professionalism, discipline, and interoperability among participating forces.
The exercise also emphasized the importance of effective legal frameworks and enforcement procedures to ensure successful prosecution and maritime governance outcomes.

A notable milestone of this year’s exercise was the successful integration of Unmanned Surface Systems into operational scenarios. This advancement marks a significant step forward in modernizing maritime security operations and adapting to evolving maritime threats.
