The official opening ceremony to kick of a series of activities to commemorate Defence forces day was held this morning at the Military Training Support Centre- Perseverance. President Wavel Ramkalawan in his capacity as the commander in chief was the guest of honor and delivered his remarks about the importance of the force in the community as he encouraged young Seychellois to join the force.
The ceremony comprised of a presentation of the achievements within the last year in the different units within the Seychelles Defence Forces.
During his speech, the Chief of Defence Forces Brigadier Michael Rosette stated that the responsibilities of each service personnel and the remarkable military families that serve alongside them provide the security allows people around the world to raise their children, to dream their dreams, and live lives that are full.
Also in attendance was the vice president Mr Ahmed Afif, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ted Barbe, Director General SIS, Mr Benediste Hoareau, members of the Defence Force council and invitees from different units as well as various civil departments that the SDF works with
