  • NATIONAL DAY PARADE

    In honor of the 47th anniversary of Seychelles Independence, the Commander in Chief, Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan, attended the National Day Parade in Victoria this afternoon. The President of Rwanda, Mr. Paul Kagame, attended this year’s festivities as the National Day’s Guest of Honor. A total of 23 platoons of uniformed men and women participated in this year’s march,which also included local and foreign military forces from India, the United Kingdom, and France, the Seychelles Police Force, the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency, and youth organizations affiliated with the Seychelles National Youth Council. The National Brass Band, under the direction of Master Nilsen Ernest and Band Major Brian Larue, was playing alongside the platoons.

  • FAD Project

    The Commander in Chief Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan, accompanied by the Minister for Fisheries and the Blue Economy, Mr. Jean-François Ferrari, welcomed back the Seychelles Coast Guard Patrol Ship Saya De Malah from their three-week clean-up expedition of the Fish Aggregating Devices (FAD).  The Chief of Defence Forces Brigadier Michael Rosette, Chief of Staff Colonel Jean Attala, and other members of the Defence Force Council were also present at the Fishing Port Berth to greet the group of six Seychelles Maritime Academy students and crew members of Saya De Malah.  The Commander-in-Chief personally congratulated the group on their successful expedition and urged them to continue to protect the blue economy, which is one of our country’s most important economies. A total of 114 FADs were collected during the expedition around Aldabra Attol, Farquhar, Astove, and other lagoons.
