NEW RECRUITS JOIN SDF
Nine new recruits have taken their oath of allegiance and welcomed in their new rank as privates this afternoon at the Seychelles Defence Academy (SDA). The group of soldiers had been following a four-month basic military training since the beginning of September this year.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the Chief of Defence Forces Brigadier Michael Rosette, Chief of Staff Colonel Jean Attala, other senior military officers and families of the new recruits.
Addressing the newly enrolled soldiers, Brigadier Rosette thanked them for making the supreme choice to forego personal comforts in order to serve their nation. He counsels them to maintain discipline in whatever area of duty they select within the army.
Valencia Vidot declared on behalf of her coworkers that they had made the decision to enlist in the military in order to help defend the nation. She continued by saying that although the training was difficult, they were able to adjust to the military way of life because of their dedication and tenacity.
Reuben Julius was named the best overall recruit, Joey Constant the best recruit for practical studies, and Jeremiah Kimai the best recruit for academic studies.
Military personnel who are already in the force also got certificates for having successfully completed the instructor course whereby Staff Sergeant Darel Payet awarded with the best overall performer.
