SDF CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL MENS DAY
On November 19, men around the world commemorate International Men’s Day, a time to recognize their accomplishments and contributions to society, particularly those that have benefited their country and community.
The Seychelles Defense Forces, a predominantly male organization, joined the rest of the world in celebrating International Men’s Day with a special event this morning at the Defence Forces Headquarters. The event was attended by SDF senior leadership as well as servicemen from all units
Deacon Lt. Col. Agathine and Mr. Robert Moumou offered the ceremony’s first prayer before Chief of Staff Col. Jean Attala gave a speech.
The event’s overarching goal was to raise awareness of the issues that men encounter in the modern society.
Dr. Nellie Marie’s presentation on men’s health and improving their well-being was the event’s high point. Her presentation placed a strong emphasis on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and the need of physical exams. Guest speaker Mr. Robert Moumou discussed how men’s lives might be improved in a variety of ways.
Apart from presentations, SDF civilian and military staff performed songs to celebrate this occasion.
On behalf of the Chief of Defence Forces, we would like to wish a happy International Men’s Day to all men in uniform as well as to all the men of Seychelles.
