Handing Over Ceremony of Patrol Ship “Andromache” from the People’s Republic of China.
The ceremony was held at the Seychelles Coast Guards Base in the presence of the Commander In Chief President Wavel Ramkalawan, Chinesse Ambassador to Seychelles H.E Ms. Lin Nan, Commissioner of Police Mr. Ted Barbe, ministers, dignitaries, members of the Defence Forces council and military personnel from both the SDF and Chinesse Armed Forces.
Today’s donation reflects the strong and trusted partnership between the Seychelles Defence Forces and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.
This fast interceptor Craft has been designed for coastal and offshore defence duties, patrol and day and night surveillance. she is adopted for high-speed interception in anti terrorism, anti smuggling, light intensity military operation scenarios amd for the protection of coastal and offshore waters.
The craft has four (04) engines and four (04) propellers. Its overall length is 46m, and can reach a maximum speed of 30 knots. Its cruising speed is 15 knots and has a range of 1,000 nautical miles at cruising speed.
As per naval traditions, the Commander in Chief handed over the National Flag to Capt. R.Leon to hoist aboard the patrol Ship, This was followed by prayers and blessings by the Force Chaplain, Lt Col Louis Agathine.
