CUTLASS EXPRESS 2023

Exercise Cutlass Express 2023 officially started this past Monday , with SDF having participants in Mauritius, Kenya and Seychelles.

The primary opening ceremony was held at the MauritianCoast Guard Training School, where the Mauritian Prime Minister Mr Pravind Jugnauth had the honour to officially launch the exercise in the presence of US Ambassador for Seychelles & Mauritius Ambassador Henry V Jardine and other senior officials.

A small opening ceremony was also held at the Military Training and Support Centre (MTSC) auditorium, in the presence of foreign partners involved in CE23, as well as various government agencies taking part.

The first week of the training is focusing mainly on academic and learning of skills that will be tested during the second week.

CE 23 is sponsored by the United States Africa Command and led by the United States Naval Forces Africa (NAVAF). The exercise is intended to improve combined maritime law enforcement capacity in the Western Indian Ocean and promote national and regional security.
