ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE HOSTS APPRECIATION CEREMONY FOR TRAINING CONDUCTED BY THE SDF.

The Attorney General Office Seychelles held a formal ceremony on Friday 11th April 2025 to express its recognition and gratitude towards the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) for successfully conducting the Maritime Affairs Training for its staff, as well participants from the Seychelles Fishing Authority and Seychelles Police Force.

The training took place from 20th February to 28th March 2025 and provided participants with an in-depth understanding of key aspects of maritime operations including detection, search and seizure, and evidence gathering. The programme also included a practical session held aboard one of the SDF’s military vessels.

In his address, the Attorney General, Mr. Vinsent Perera, commended the Seychelles Defence Forces for their unwavering dedication and tireless efforts in safeguarding the nation. He described the Maritime Affairs Training as both timely and essential in enhancing the capacity of prosecutors to effectively handle maritime offences. Mr. Perera further emphasised the importance of mutual understanding and collaboration between the two institutions to ensure the effective administration of justice.

The training was planned, conducted and facilitated by officers from the Seychelles Coast Guards and the Military Training and Support Centre. All instructors were also presented with tokens of appreciation in recognition of their valuable contributions. The participating officers were also awarded certificates to acknowledge their successful completion of the training.

As a gesture of appreciation on behalf of the Attorney General’s Office, Mr. Perera presented a token of gratitude to the Seychelles Defence Forces, which was graciously accepted by the Chief of Defence Forces, Major General Michael Rosette.
