About Seychelles Defence Academy
MILITARY TRAINING AND SUPPORT CENTER
The Military Training and Support Centre is where all military personnel in the Seychelles Defence Forces are trained to take on their responsibility as soldiers (Regular and Service Support).
The role of training for soldiers is to transform civilians into physically and mentally capable members of the armed forces who can perform demanding tasks in high-pressure environments. This includes instilling discipline and teamwork, teaching essential skills like marksmanship and first aid, and building physical and psychological resilience to ensure mission success and protect national sovereignty.
MTSC is responsible for the academic, military, physical, and character development of soldiers and future officers, as well as the ongoing training of personnel throughout their careers in Defence.
The MTSC is primarily mandated to impart quality education, training and professional development in all areas of military education and specialized/ technical fields.
Formerly known as the Seychelles Defence Academy (SDA) which was officially launched in June 1990, the organization has evolved from a basic curriculum to modern training concepts which directly aligns the physical developments of the military personnel with their academic development. Our core focus is total fitness, which focuses not only on physical training but also social and psychological development of the soldiers. The MTSC is developing into an institution which can also offer training to our civil partners and international partners in several fields which includes maritime domain awareness and training of trainer courses.
The MTSC also partners with UNODC and other recognized institutions to ensure that the training are relevant to modern challenges.
The MTSC is now located at Perseverance, where training ranges from Basic Recruit Training, Junior Leadership Courses, Senior Leadership, technical military subjects and others. Our team of dedicated instructors are trained to impart quality training to our trainees without compromising the values of the SDF.
Among our other roles, we are also home to the National Brassband and host to most of the international joint exercises with our international partners.
