Thanksgiving Religious Service

On November 25, 1981 a group of mercenaries attempted an attacked on our small Island. Our soldiers of the then SPLA reacted effectively to counter the attack. Our soldiers defended our country as they were train to do so, and they come out victorious. We the remaining mercenaries fleeing the country on a hijacked an Air India plane. Nevertheless, on this sad day in our history, our country lost one of his beloved son, Second Lieutenant David Antat, who through a heroic act lost his life.

Since then, SPDF has henceforth adopted the November 25 as Defence Forces Day. Every year, the day is marked by various activities which include a wreath-laying ceremony, sports activities, community engagements, as well as a thanksgiving religious service amongst others.
