On Thursday June 04, 2020, a group of 13 young and well-motivated new Privates (Pte) joined the ranks of the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces (SPDF) after having completed their three months Basic Recruit Training at the Recruit Training Centre (RTC) at Barbarons. The new Privates (six ladies and seven gentlemen) took their Oath of Allegiance in a short indoor ceremony at Seychelles Defence Academy (SDA) at Ile Perseverance, in the presence of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Colonel Clifford Roseline, Senior SPDF Officers and their close relatives. Three new Privates also received awards for their excellent performance during the course; Best Outdoor: Pte Ally Kris, Best Academic: Pte Songor Nelja and Best Overall: Pte Buron Anil. After having sworn-in, the new Privates were officially welcomed as members of the Defence Forces by the CDF, who affixed the Seychelles Flag Patches to their uniforms and addressed them through a short welcoming speech. The new soldiers will soon join their unit of choice to officially kick-start their career in local defence force. The SPDF is proud to welcome them and wish them all best in their future undertakings
