The official opening ceremony to kick of a series of activities to commemorate the 47th Defence forces day was held this morning at the Military Training and Support Centre- Ile Perseverance. Presen was Honorable Clifford Andre, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ted Barbe, Director General SIS, Mr Benediste Hoareau, members of the Defence Force council and invitees from different units as well as various civil departments that the SDF works in collaboration with. Vice president Ahmed Afif was the guest of honor and delivered his remarks and pointed out how the service personnel ensure the safety of our country in their daily duties.
The ceremony comprised of presentation of long service awards for military personnel and civilian staff celebrating 30 yearsofservice and above. In the same ceremony, Battlefeel participants and winners were awarded. Prominent Seychellois artist, MrPatrick Victor, also graced the stage to perform a patriotic song,“Premye Sesel”.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS) and the Seychelles DefenceForces (SDF) was signed to establish a formal partnership for first aid training and services. This collaboration aims to enhance the first aid capabilities of military personnel and the broader community.
During his keynote speech, the Chief of Defence Forces Brigadier Michael Rosette stated that regardless of each rank or role, each and every one of the service personnel plays a crucial part in protecting the integrity of Seychelles, he ensured that their commitments are invaluable, and their contributions keep our nation safe.
